Space (Playcentre Aotearoa)
Space supports new parents and their baby throughout their first critical year together.
Together with their baby, parents meet weekly over 25 -30 weeks to explore parenting and baby’s development as they discover what works for their family and situation, in a safe, facilitated environment.
Parents start Space when their baby is 0 – 4 months old although there may be opportunities for older babies to join an existing programme.
- Sleeping and crying
- Establishing attachment
- Expressing myself (communication and language development)
- Physical development (fine and big muscle co-ordination)
- Becoming a parent
- The beauty of the brain (brain development and early experiences)
- Treasure baskets, heuristic play and exploration of play
- A sense of me and others (socialisation)
Costs vary and include WINZ subsidy.
